OK so I know I never posted the original layout even though I said I would, but I am updating since my life has changed so dramatically since I did the last one.
Cleaning is going to be the primary tab. This tab will have my daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, and seasonal cleaning to-do lists. I will also put note here for our housekeepers who come bi-weekly.
I used to have a tab for my daily schedule, but that is no longer feasible because there is no consistency to my days anymore, so I will be taking that out.
I am going to add tabs for Mike, and Carter though. (I already have actual file folders for each of the foster kids.) Carter’s tab will hold things like a school calendar, bible verse of the month list, hot lunch list, chore list, etc. Mike’s will hold his school schedule (He is going back to school this fall.) and whatever else may be useful re: him.
I am also going to add tab for misc. lists…One list I will be adding to this is a Birthday/Address list. I currently don’t have one of these and I’d really like to since I’d like to start sending out cards and such. I will also have our basement inventory list (I number each box and put the contents of each box on a list so should I need to find something, I can easily reference which box the item is in without needing to go hunting.) I will also place a list here of the different fun places we like to go such as our favorite children’s museums, pumpkin patches, orchards, etc. along with their address and dates/times of operations. That way I can easily access the information I need to I know the best times to visit and also have the address handy to input to our GPS.
The last tab I am going to have is Financial. I am adding this because after nearly 9 years of being responsible of our financial situation…I am pretty much burnt out so I am going to try having Mike take over. I pay most of our bills online so I am going to keep our account access passwords here along with a general list of our typical monthly bills. At some point, we are going to set up an actual budget as well which will go here also.
Another change I’m going to make is to not use graphics on my divider pages. I’m going to use plain white separator tabs and will write in the tab names. I do have a really cute patterned binder that I got from Target that I will be keeping everything in. I just decided that I focus too much on “preparing” my binder than actually using it.
I will post pictures in the next few days of what it looks like.
I like the cartoon!! I have one that goes like this
My house was clean yesterday Sorry you missed it!
For my dividing pages I use heavier cardboard inside plastic sleeves then put a post it style index tag on the edge. I don’t seem to get around to putting artwork on my dividing pages although I guess it would look nicer. Some of the information within a section is best stored in plastic sleeves to this way the divider sticks out further than the contents of the section, well at least the tab does.
