Well I’ve been MIA from the blogging world for quite some time. I think I just needed a break to get things in my life back in order. After all the illness and such I was feeling a little in the dumps because my house was a mess and I was a mess. So I’m now back on track and ready to get back involved.

We still have the girls and actually are working on getting a 4th placement. We are going vehicle shopping this weekend and we are looking to get a dreaded mini-van. Hopefully all goes well. We also want to go down to 1 vehicle. I just don’t go anywhere during the day when Mike is at work. He gets home around 2 so I just schedule all of our appointments after that. Anyways, my point in all this is if we get a mini-van we will be able to hold 1 more child. I really want one more, but being that we want to go to one vehicle, we need to be able to fit all of us in one car. I’m not too excited about driving a mini-van (it’s my own prejudice), but it will make traveling a million times easier. Right now I can get our kids in the car, but nothing else…not even our double stroller.

Well, that’s it for now. I just wanted to let my many faithful readers, that I am back!

Love you all!!

Ok, so I wanted to brag quick about all the insanely great deals I got for the girls. They each get $150 as a 1 time clothing allowance. Past that, we are responsible for clothing them out of our monthly funds. Here’s what I got…

10 full outfits (either dress, or shirt and pants)

1 pk. each undies and socks

3 pairs of jammies

7 full outfits

1 pk socks and 3 pairs of tights

3 pairs of jammies

1 pair of shoes

12 full outfits

3 pairs of jammies

1 pair of shoes

1 pk socks

3 pairs tights

For a total of….

Yes that’s right!!! That’s total! Not each!! Man, I’m so proud of myself. This will leave enough money for clothes in the spring for all of them too!!

How did I do it?? Well, we have a children’s consignment store here and the owner is a HUGE supporter of foster families and what we do so she gives 25% off to us. Most clothing is $5 or less! It’s an awesome resource because I can get so much more bang for my buck. There’s always really cute stuff too! She doesn’t take anything that is stained or heavily worn and quite often I find stuff that still has tags on them. It’s so wonderful because I’m so picky on clothes. I feel like they should have really nice and really cute clothes…it’s the least they deserve right!!??

OK done with the bragging now! You may move on with your day! 🙂

Things went really well last night. I was hoping to get a bit more sleep and have time to get up and take a get ready for the day. It almost happened. Carter got up (which is typical – he usually just comes to our room to watch tv for awhile), the oldest of the girls got up too at 6:30 so I had to make them both sit on the couch in our room and told them to be quiet so they didn’t wake the little ones while I took a shower. Well, you can imagine how that went so after a few warning we had to do a timeout, but in the end, I was able to do my shower, hair and makeup which is pretty good.

Today is going to be our big shopping trip. I need to get some clothes for the girls. They didn’t come with a whole lot so I have my list and we are gonna hit the stores this morning. Should be interesting. I did ask my mom to come along to help corral, but I’m not sure I’m going to wait that long (she is a volunteer tutor and has to do that today). In case, I don’t find what I’m looking for at Walmart, I’m gonna go to an outlet mall that’s about 45 minutes away and I will definitely need her then!!

So the last few days (besides having a backache), I have been exceptionally sluggish and maybe even a little down in the dumps. Just no motivation to get off my butt really. Well as soon as they called this morning about the girls, I got up and started moving!! I got the house picked up and cleaned, dishes done, picked Carter up from my parents church (mom was getting ready for their Thanksgiving Dinner there.), Carter and I went to Subway to meet Mike for lunch, came home, vacuumed, cleaned bathrooms, etc.

So you’re probably wondering what it is that I actually realized…

Well, I do better the busier I am!! I do a better job keeping my house clean, I do a better job cooking (meaning I actually DO), I do a better job keeping up with Carter’s homeschooling! Plus, I just in general feel better and have more energy!!

I think this was a really important realization because next time I’m feeling like all I want to do is sit around and watch tv and be a slug, I know that all I need to do is find something to do!!

**Cleaning, however, is not enough to make me not feel sluggish!!!

God is so good! Today was amazing. The girls did so well and it was so peaceful here! They all got along very well, they picked up when asked, they obeyed right away, no time-outs were needed, and the baby was just soooo sweet!! Did I mention that they all slept all night?? Well almost…the baby did get up around 4:30 for just a bit; I think it was just because of the new environment. They are so adorable! It was so fun having a baby here again too. I just can’t get enough of the babies.

I heard from social worker today and he said that we got permission from one birth parent to take them to church (out of state) with us and he’s just waiting to get ahold of the other. Once that is totally ok’d, we will be all set. It’s quite possible they could move in yet this week. The oldest didn’t want to leave today, but I told her that she would probably be back and very soon too; I didn’t say for sure because it’s never good to make promises you just might not be able to keep and it’s still not 100% yet so I didn’t want to make that promise.

It is really amazing the differences in kids. We have had 1 child who was harder to handle than all 3 of these girls together. Mike and I were just amazed last night. We were sitting on the couch watching tv and the kids were all in the next room playing and the baby was napping in the swing; we just couldn’t get over how peaceful and quiet it was! I think Mike is actually quite smitten with them already too. The baby just loved him and every time he walked by her, she would give him the biggest grin at which point he couldn’t help, but stop and give her some attention.

To give you an example of how calm things were today…I got the kids up around 7:30am this morning and got them dressed and fed. At 8:30, social worker came to get the two younger ones for a visit and I took Carter and the oldest to the store to get groceries. We got back and I got the groceries in and put away. Then the younger 2 got back and I got everyone fed again and the 2 youngest down for a nap. While they were napping, I got the dishes done, 2 loads of laundry, Carter’s homeschooling done, and ate lunch myself. Mike got home at 1:30 and we hung out for a little while and I made Puppy Chow (will try to post a picture and recipe of this tomorrow) and then we got the little ones up and had snack. I got their things packed up and at 3:00 they were picked up to go back to their current home. Now there is no way all of this should be able to be accomplished with 4 children under the age of 5 without any temper tantrums (from them or myself!) or meltdowns!

As I said before, God is good!!!

So you may (or may not) be wondering where I have been for the last few days. Well, I have been watching Lost while lying in bed and allowing my husband to care for not only our children, but me as well. Now before you go jumping to conclusions regarding my moral fibers and values…I was sick. Not just an “Oh, I have a headache today.” or “I’m feeling faint.” type of sick either. It was a knock-down, kick your butt, make you wish you were on a tropical island (OK so THAT I wish for even when I’m not sick) kind of sick!!! I’m still not exactly sure what it is/was, but whatever it is/was did me in. I left my room for the first time tonight since Friday afternoon. I’m not sure I have ever ever done that. I’m still not close to 100%, but at least I can function above “near coma” level.

While preparing myself to come downstairs, I began worrying about the state of our house. I had not ventured outside of our bedroom let alone downstairs to our main living area. Now why would I be worried you wonder??? Well, my husband, along with 4 boys ages 5 and under were left down there for 3 days straight with no supervision (yes, Mike watched the kids, but does that really count as REAL supervision??). So I am preparing myself for the terror and shock of all that will be before me as I enter what has been the great unknown for 3 days!

As I walked down the stairs and the living room began to come into my line of sight, I realized that while I was watching Lost, I, too, would have been lost if it weren’t for my husband. I still cannot believe all that he has done. He waited on me hand and foot while I was sick (making me food, bring me whatever I asked, or just coming up to say “hi” and give me a kiss), but what I came downstairs to was a completely clean house!!! There is not even a dish in the sink!

So what I realized while watching seasons 2 and 3 of Lost (awesome show if you’ve never watched it) is that while I was “lost” on my proverbial island (aka upstairs in my bed) my husband made sure to take care of things until I got “home”. I would be lost without him.

Love you babe!!!
